John Wesley "J.W." Cochran

John Wesley Cochran, 86, entered into rest on Saturday, October 20, 2012.

Mr. Cochran was born on August 4, 1926 in Fairmount, Georgia to the late Marion Wesley Cochran and Mary O'Dessie Strickland Cochran. With pride and honor, J.W. served his country for two years in the United States Army and eighteen years in the United States Air Force, retiring after obtaining the rank of Tech Sergeant. In addition to his distinguished military career, he also retired from the Houston County Board of Education where he worked with the food service group. A true community servant he volunteered with the Houston Healthcare Auxiliary for a number of years and was a member of the Centerville and Warner Robins Senior Citizen's groups. J.W. enjoyed a variety of music, loved reading, and solving word puzzles. In addition to his parents, four sisters and five brothers all preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years and eleven months, Geraldine "Jerry" Womble Cochran; children, Stephen Cochran, both of Warner Robins; Charlotte C. Bare (Bob), Crawford County; Douglas Cochran (Becky), Warner Robins; Phillip Cochran (April), Kuwait; sister, Lillian C. Ellis, Conyers; grandchildren, Kourtney Cochran, Medford, Oregon; Shane Cochran, Warner Robins; step-grandchildren, Samantha, Todd, and Duel Bare, all of Louisiana; Brandon Rodriquez, Medford, Oregon; and Aaron Christy of Kuwait.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 24, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with entombment following in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201.
