In the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 24, 2017, Johnnie McGuire, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Johnnie was born on July 11, 1941 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Curtis and Eather McGuire. At a young age, he and his family moved to Warner Robins where he grew up. After graduating from Warner Robins High School in 1960, Johnnie enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served four years active duty and thirty-eight years in civil service at Robins Air Force Base. Johnnie worked on the F-15's, C130's and C141's before retiring as Branch Chief of the F-15's. Later, he was a contractor in the foreign military sales division for the Saudi program. Johnnie was a Master Mason and past Master of Middle Georgia Daylight Lodge, Houston Lodge 35, Commander of Legion of Honor and Director of Jesters. He was a current member of Mason Scottish Rite and awarded the Masonic Man of the Year for 2016. Of all his accomplishments, time spent with his family is what brought him the most joy.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 35 years, Margarett McGuire; children, Cindy Floyd (Danny) of Cochran; Eddie McGuire (Tricia) of Newnan; Melinda Schippel (Richard) and Matthew Allen (Michelle) all of Bonaire; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene McGuire (Lisa); sisters-in-law, Lillie Wall (Richard) and Lila Stephens (Jimmy) as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with Johnnie's family will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 in the Chapel of McCullough. Following the service, Johnnie will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Johnnie Lee McGuire
to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, care of Al Sihah Shrine, P.O. Box 3147, Macon, GA 31205.
