Jonathan “Andy” Andrew Suchower, 68, entered into rest on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
Andy was born on February 27, 1956, in Derby, Connecticut to the late John and Eleanor Suchower. An alma mater of Armstrong University in Savannah, Andy earned a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Business. Using his knowledge and skill, he worked as a Chemist for 41 cumulative years, working first for Anderson Chemical Company in Macon for 27 years and later, Chem Aqua in Dallas, Texas for 14 years. Several of those years included working abroad in Korea, Peru, Ecuador, and Jamaica. He would go on to retire from his prestigious career at the age of 65.
Andy was an avid sports fan who watched all sports, all the time. He loved to attend live games including his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events. He was even known to attend local high school and college games regardless of any familiar ties, because he loved the joy of good competition. Growing up, he played several sports and as an adult, he played competitive league tennis, which he also enjoyed umpiring for. Andy was a fervent runner and later in life, became a golfer. During his retirement, he was known to have a tee time at least 4-5 days a week. Andy enjoyed being active and sharing his love of sports with his family. This even led to him umpiring for the Para-Olympics in Atlanta in 1996 as well as a line umpire for the U.S. Open in New York for two years. Andy was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He attended Mass every Sunday, even if he was out of town or when hospitalized, he would find a Catholic church to attend or watch online. He was also adamant about giving back to his community through volunteer work. While living in Texas, he tutored ESOL adults and helped them study for their citizenship, and upon moving back to Warner Robins, he volunteered through Meals on Wheels. Andy will be deeply missed by those he loved.
In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Suchower and stepmother, Mary Suchower.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Susan Suchower; children, Sara Keever (Cole), and Kenneth Suchower (Kathleen); grandchildren, Bailey, Mila, Maxwell, and Magnolia; siblings, Christine Shadie (Charles), and Stephan Suchower (Lisa); nieces and nephews, Michael Shadie, Eleanor Shadie, Marissa Suchower, Becca Suchower, and Jenna Suchower along with a host of loving family members and friends.
A memorial gathering will be Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. A memorial mass will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Afterward, Andy will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
