Joseph C. "J.C." Leverett, Jr., 77, entered into rest on Thursday, May 26, 2011.
J.C. was born on September 19, 1933 in Byron. A Warner Robins High School graduate, he worked over thirty years at Georgia Pacific Corporation in Lumber Sales. After retirement, he worked part-time at Keadle Lumber Company. Growing up, his skills in farming led to his passion for gardening. He was also an avid fisherman. His church home was First Baptist Church of Centerville, where he was a lifelong member. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Crowder Leverett, Sr., and Effie L. Wynn Leverett; sister, Warnell L. Howard; and brother, Charlie H. Leverett.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Nell Martin Leverett; sons, Jason Leverett (Donna), Kathleen, and Joey Leverett (Kim), Gainesville, Georgia; brother, Jerry Lee Leverett (Faye), Vienna; grandchildren, Koey E., Kara Grace, Charles J. and Chance H. Leverett; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Centerville. Interment will follow at the First Baptist Church Centerville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to the donor's choice, or Ronald McDonald House, 1160 Forsyth Street, Macon GA 31201, or Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 4505, Macon GA 31213.
