Joseph William Shuttlesworth, Sr.

Joseph William Shuttlesworth, Sr., 76, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.

Joe was born on February 9, 1940 in West Blocton, Alabama to the late Howard and Christine Shuttlesworth. He was a 1958 graduate of Warner Robins High School where he excelled in many sports and was voted "Most Athletic." Mr. Shuttlesworth was a retired engineer from Robins Air Force Base and also a home builder. Joe enjoyed salt water fishing, cruising, and spending time with friends and family. He was always willing to help anyone in need and had a wonderful sense of humor that will be remembered always.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Jettie Platt and William and Ethel Shuttlesworth.

Joe's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Brett Shuttlesworth of Warner Robins; children, Sandi Couillard (Rob) of Warner Robins and son, Joseph Shuttlesworth, Jr. (Tanya) of Perry; grandchildren, Jordan Couillard (Tracy) of Louisville, Kentucky, Payton Couillard of Warner Robins, and Ansley and Ava Claire Shuttlesworth, both of Perry; brother, Troy Shuttlesworth of Warner Robins; sister, Patricia Ezell of Byron; many nieces and nephews; and his special cruising friends, as well.

Visitation will be Friday, July 15th from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Joe to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
