Joyce Eileen Griggs

Joyce Eileen Gebhart Griggs, 86, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the Hazel Colson Hospice House in Perry.

Born on November 3, 1935, in Salina, Kansas, Joyce was the daughter of the late Edwin “Bud” and Elizabeth Prosise Gebhart. She was a longtime member of Centerville United Methodist Church and a vital part of The Seekers Sunday School Class. Joyce loved her pets and enjoyed solving puzzles. Passionate about time spent with her family, she loved holiday get-togethers and had an active role in her grandchildren’s lives.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tom Shell.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband of 67 years, Floyd Griggs; children, Sherrie Shell, Kelly J. Evans (Kelly A.), and Tim Griggs; grandchildren, Stefanie Rushing (Matt), Heather Ray (Zack), Ashley Ake, Andrew Evans (Mandy), Melissa Griggs; and great-grandchildren, Jayden Ake, Holden Rushing, and Angel Sweeney.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Centerville United Methodist Church. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at Centerville United Methodist Church. Joyce will be laid to rest privately in Parkway Memorial Gardens.

The family of Joyce Eileen Griggs would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Heart of Georgia Hospice for the love and care they provided to Joyce at the end stages of her life.
