Joyce F. Kitchens

Esther Joyce (Fussell) Kitchens of Warner Robins, GA went on to her heavenly home on May 15, 2013. She was born on August 13, 1930 and was the only child of the late Sidney Luther Fussell and Virginia Fussell. She was an amazing traditional homemaker for her husband CMsgt Francis Lee Kitchens Sr. (deceased 1997) and her three children Sidney, Lee and Susan. A military wife accustomed to frequent moves within these United States and overseas she is remembered as a very good den mother, seamstress, PTA member, Girl Scout leader, Little League supporter and in general as someone who never shirked any task that came her way. She and her husband were proud members of Oakland Baptist Church for over thirty years where she taught the Victory Ladies Sunday School class, Vacation Bible School, and served on several Pastoral search committees. She was also head of the Women's Missionary Union. Her family, including her children, grandson Michael and his fiancée Caley, and son-in-law Randall Johnson were with her at her time of transition. She held a particular and special love for her grandson Michael Emilio who she helped her daughter raise and who in her later years helped her maintain her home and yard. Her family's hope is to live up to her example of responsibility to God, country and family.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Sidney Lee Kitchens (Deborah Shaw), Greensboro, North Carolina; Francis Lee Kitchens, Jr. (Carla), Winston Salem, North Carolina; Susan Kitchens Johnson (Randall), Warner Robins, Georgia; beloved grandchildren, Michael Emilio, Joshua Kitchens, Dylan Kitchens, Krysten Kitchens, Katie Kitchens; and great granddaughter, Calyn Kitchens.

Visitation will be Saturday evening, May 18, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will be in Andersonville National Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Heart of Georgia Inpatient Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, Georgia 31069.
