On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 26, 2018, Juanita Tye, age 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Juanita was born in Whigam, Georgia on December 26, 1920 to the late James Clayton and Maude Brock Clark. The first lunchroom manager of Northside Junior High School, she was a member of Second Baptist Church for over 60 years and the Friendship Life Group. Juanita’s hobbies included fishing, gardening, cooking, and collecting cookbooks. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who loved her family and church deeply serving them all faithfully during her lifetime.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Eston A. Roberts and James B. Tye; and her sisters, Barbara Hester, Mildred Harrison, Mary Trammell, and Kathryn Shiver.
Juanita leaves behind to forever cherish her memory her son, Jimmy Roberts (Patty) of Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Laverne Roberts Waites of Memphis, Tennessee; stepchildren, Sherryl Moore of Hawkinsville and David Tye (Renee) of Eastman; grandsons, Steve Roberts, Rodney Waites, and Eddie Crosby; granddaughters, Lisa Bell (David), Tina McLean (Michael), Missy Thigpen (Lamar) and Marcie Waites; step-grandchildren, Jason Minter (Brenda), Chris Bailey (Christy), Wes Tye (O’Lea) and Ethan Tye (Kourtney); and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be Friday, September 28, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Slade officiating. After the service, Juanita will be laid to rest next to Eston in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Juanita to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2504 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088 or to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Ste 1509, New York, NY 10018.
