Juanita "Estelle" Roberts Aycock, 86, is singing with the angels in heaven.
Estelle was born on April 21, 1924, in Ocilla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, James I. Aycock, Sr., parents, James and Ella Bea Jones Roberts, son Jerry, one brother, two sisters, and one great-grandchild.
A member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church, Estelle was a former member of the Keenager Chorus, Keenagers Club, and the Joe Haselden Sunday School Class. She enjoyed making comfort pads and greeting the crowds at the annual Walk Through Bethlehem. She delighted in traveling with her church family and with the Centerville Senior Citizens, and meeting with her Red Hatters Society. Estelle was a former member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, worked with Awana's, Vacation Bible School and other church activities. She loved her Lord, her church, and she prayed without ceasing for her children to have a relationship with God and a church family.
For many years, she served the savvy shoppers of Penny Pinchers. She loved to attend various sporting events, especially if her children or grandchildren were playing. She was an avid Braves fan who only took second place to the WRALL when they were in the World Series.
She will live in the memory of her children, Lankford Aycock, (Mildred), Fitzgerald, James I. Aycock, Jr., (Ann), Wildwood, FL, John Aycock, (Nancy), Pine City, NY, Juanita Axmacher (Ed), Engelwood, FL, Joe Aycock,(Sandra), Punta Gorda, FL, and Jay Aycock (Sheila), Warner Robins; brothers Frank Roberts (Rita Sue), White, Clifford Roberts (Brenda), Calhoun, Tillman Roberts (Frances), Fitzgerald, Evelyn Royal, Fitzgerald, and Carolyn Hobby (Jerry), Fitgerald; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Shirley Hills Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to WRALL, P.O. Box 6252, Warner Robins GA 31095 or to Shirley Hills Baptist Church, 615 Corder Road, Warner Robins GA 31088.
