Juanita “Nita” Agnes McRae Thompson, 77, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Born on March 21, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia, Nita’s journey was one of faith, family, and unwavering dedication. At the age of six, she was adopted by Rev. George McRae and his wife, Mary, who nurtured her in a home filled with love and strong Christian values. Their family moved throughout Georgia, including High Pointe, North Carolina, and Lafayette, Georgia, before settling in Warner Robins, where her father helped establish the local Nazarene Church.

A proud graduate of Northside High School’s Class of 1965, Nita embraced life with warmth and resilience. She married in 1970 and dedicated herself to building a loving home. While she began raising her family in Warner Robins for two years, she then moved to Cumming, Georgia, balancing motherhood with work in retail before returning to Warner Robins in 1992.

For many years, Nita greeted customers with a smile while working in customer service at Walmart, where her kindness left a lasting impression. She was a woman of deep faith, first as a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Cumming and later at Southside Baptist Church upon her return to Warner Robins.

Nita had a heart for animals, especially dogs, and a love for the little joys in life—keeping a tidy home, adorning herself with beautiful jewelry, and above all, cherishing her children and grandchildren. She was known for her kindness, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. George H. McRae and Mary Estelle Ellis McRae, and son, Randy Thompson.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Kimberly Savage (Paul) and Brandie Chapman (Nash); and grandchildren, Nicholas Thompson (Ashley), Amber Thompson, Blake Thompson, Kinsey Savage (Emily), Zach Savage, Judson McNeal, John Michael McNeal, James McNeal and Adrianna Savage, along with many other loving family members and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Magnolia Park Cemetery, where Nita will be laid to rest. A graveside visitation will be held an hour prior.
