On the morning of Thursday, August 30, 2018, Julia Charlena Jones joined her beloved husband of 65 years, MSgt. Rubin Melvin Jones, Jr., USAF (Ret.) in heaven. She was 87 years old.
Julia was born the daughter of the late Charles Brinten and Rachel Isbell Sheets on April 22, 1931 in Fairview, Oklahoma. At 21, she married the love of her life, Rubin, and embraced the role of being a military wife and devoted mother. Julia worked for a few years as a production worker in carpet manufacturing before fully dedicating her life to being a stay at home mother to her two girls.
A longtime faithful member of The Assembly at Warner Robins, she loved her church family and friends dearly and they loved her the same. Julia had a generous heart and colorful disposition, but her number one strength was her hospitality. She gladly welcomed each person who walked in the door of the church with a warm smile and open arms, especially military families who were still looking for their “home” in Warner Robins. Julia also initiated and organized a support group for widowed ladies in the church over 20 years ago and it still thrives to this day. She will forever be remembered with love and affection by family and friends who will cherish the memory of her big heart, selflessness, and genuine love for every person she knew.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Randy Midkiff.
Julia leaves her memory behind with her loving daughters, Sherry Ogg (Reggie) of Winterville and Brenda Kay Midkiff of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Rachel Ogg, Amanda Cooke, Ronald D Midkiff (Elizabeth) and Carrie Sargent (William); great-grandchildren, Raegan Midkiff, Jackson Midkiff, Conner Sargent and Logan Sargent, and sister, Martha Wilson of Enid, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at The Assembly at Warner Robins with Pastor Richard Azbell officiating. Afterwards, Julia will be laid to rest next to her husband in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Julia to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Rd., Macon, GA 31210. The family would like to express their heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the staff at Pine Pointe Hospice for their loving care and support in this difficult time.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Jones’s arrangements.
