June Bray Kelly joined her beloved Kenneth in heaven on December 21, 2022.
Mrs. Kelly was born June 30, 1934 in Laurens County, Georgia, to the late Charles Herbert Bray and Reba Jackson Bray Newsome. She graduated from Sandersville High School and continued her education at Georgia State College for Women, Augusta College, and Georgia State University.
Mrs. Kelly and her husband, Kenneth, devoted themselves to the children of the public schools of Jefferson County. She served as an English teacher and administrator during her career as an educator.
Upon retirement, Mrs. Kelly poured herself into the lives of her family and the people of Trinity UMC. She served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible study leader. One of her greatest joys was leading the book club that she organized.
Her love of literature was only surpassed by her love of all God’s children. She was instrumental in the formation of the Women’s Interfaith Alliance of Central Georgia and treasured the close friendships she had with people from many faith traditions.
She was an associate at Green Bough House of Prayer for many years. Green Bough was her spiritual home, a place of peace, comfort and love.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Clovis Kelly; daughter, Teri Leigh Kelly; and sister, Betty Bray Moehrbach (Otto).
Her memory will be forever treasured by her daughter, Sheri Kelly Blair (Rusty) of Athens; grandchildren, Scott Blair (Amanda) of Athens; Kelly Etchells (Chris) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and great-grandchildren, Cade, Abigail, Luke, and Dorothy.
Visitation with June’s family will be held on Wednesday, December 28 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church. The funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jeff Cook and Reverend Theresa Edwards officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Kelly will be laid to rest in the Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
