June Grier Walker, 76, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at home after a lengthy illness with her family by her bedside. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Central Baptist Church with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, March 27, 2006 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Central Baptist Joy in the Journey, 1120 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088 or to Hospice of Houston County, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
Mrs. Walker was born on January 2, 1930 in Glenwood, Georgia. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was involved in the music ministry program since 1957. She organized and directed numerous singing groups and ensembles, including the Ladies’ Trio. Mrs. Walker had a passion for music. She was also the church organist for thirty nine years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgia State College for Women. She began her teaching career in Dodge County before moving to Houston County where she taught for five years at Warner Robins High and twenty two years at Northside High School. While at Northside High School, she was the chairman of the business department for several years. Mrs. Walker was a loyal, devoted supporter of the Northside Eagles. Her parents, Walter and Sarah Grier; sisters, Evelyn McDaniel and Mary Talley; preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, George Franklin Walker; daughter, Susan Cowart; son-in-law, Tod J. Cowart; granddaughter, Caroline Delane Cowart; grandson, William Judson Cowart; all of Warner Robins.
