Karen Busbee Coleman, beloved daughter of the late Robert Marks, Sr., and Virginia Early Marks, passed away at the age of 72 on Monday, December 4, 2023. Born on June 24, 1951, in Lakeland, Florida, Karen leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication.
Karen worked for several years as an assistant at the Lee County Board of Education before retiring.
A devout follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Karen's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She enjoyed regularly attending her church. Karen also cherished moments spent traveling to the beach or mountains. Her love for adventure was only surpassed by her love for her family, and she treasured every moment spent in their company.
In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her first husband, Doug.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved husband of 10 years, Phil Coleman of Perry, Georgia; children, Pam Busbee, Carolyn Hatfield, Annette Adams, Douglas Busbee, Jr. (Monica), Mark Carolton Busbee (Amanda), Andrew Lee Busbee (Jessica); stepchildren, Stephen Coleman (Stefanie); Christi Walthall (Robbie); Heather Ann Coleman, and Amanda Evans (Troy); numerous grandchild and great-grandchildren; sisters, Sheila Overman (Ken) and Toni Quick; and brother, Robert Marks, Jr. (Kimberly).
A memorial service celebrating Karen’s life will be held at The Grove Church in Perry on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 3:00p.m. with a memorial gathering held one hour prior.
