Katherine Coley Wright was born to the late Mrs. Lilly Mae Redding Osby and Mr. Mose Coley on July 20, 1934. She slowly departed from her life on the earth to Heaven on April 8, 2024.

Mrs. Wright joined the late Mr. Jack J. Wright in Holy Matrimony in 1952 and were married for 52 years. Unto this union, twelve lovely children were born. Five of her children preceded her in death.

The late Mr. Timothy Wright, she leaves to mourn seven children, Mrs. Linda Wilson (late Charlie Wilson) of Perry, GA, Ms. Diane Osayameh of Warner Robins, GA, Mr. Homer Wright (late Gracie Wright) of Warner Robins, GA, Mr. Jerry Wright (Bridgett) of Fort Valley, GA, Mr. Tony Wright (Tracie) of Fort Valley, GA; Mrs. Sundra Ayangible (Joseph) of Houston, Texas, and Mr. Jack Wright, Jr. (Jenell) of Warner Robins, GA; the diamonds and jewels of her heart were 29 grandchildren; over 59 great-grandchildren; and over a dozen great-great-grandchildren; she was raised by her late uncle, Mr. Oatha Redding and aunt, Mrs. Lou Redding surviving whom she adored as a mother figure until the end; Mrs. Rachel Johnson, a very special cousin, and one surviving sister-in-law, Mrs. Earnestine Zanders of Byron, GA; (Father); two fine hearted brothers, Mr. Lewis Coley of Macon, Georgia, and Mr. Richard Coley of Detroit , MI; a kind hearted sister, Mrs. Annie Kat Coley (Mitchell) of Cordele, GA; the late Mr. Mose Coley of Macon, GA, the late Mr. Robert Coley of Macon, GA, the late Mrs. Jannie Bell Coley of Macon, GA, the late (West) Lila Hill Coley of Cordele, GA, Mr. Dan Coley of Macon, GA, and Mr. William Coley of Macon; (Mother) the late Mrs. Katherine Osby; the late Mr. Billy Jean Osby, the late Mrs. Jeanet Osby, the late Mrs. Lucy Osby, the late Mr. Charles Osby, and the late Mr. Funk Osby, all of New York.  She also has a host of other relatives and friends.

She worked for the Peach County Board of Education as a bus driver for 15 years, as well as in the Bibb Company lunchrooms, Peach County Fort Valley Maxwell Dukes, Farm Cafeteria and farm worker John F. Dukes, Fort Valley, also she was a domestic worker.

Katherine was a strong hearted, strong willed, and a mighty fighter for herself and especially for her children. She was very friendly and kind to most that knew her. She loved talking, joking, and laughing, and her home was offered as a place to live and a dinner table for most. Everyone who came in contact with her mainly called her, “Grandmom.” She loved to sing, and sung in the church choir at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Byron, Georgia. She also loved Friendship Baptist Church in Marshallville, Georgia, as well as other churches. She joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at an early age of her life, she served on the Usher Boards at both churches. She was the mother of the Church of New Beginning Fellowship International Ministries of Warner Robins, GA, under the leadership of her son, Pastor Homer Wright, and she known as a “Cool Classy Fox” with her dress attire. She was a lover of hats and high heels. 

She was friendly to all and had a special way of talking and making connections with the flowers, trees, and birds among her. With her green thumb, she grew many plants. She was a very hard worker. She was a unique individual and there is no one else like Katherine Coley Wright, a teacher among teachers.

Visitation with Mrs. Wright’s family and friends will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.  Afterward, Katherine C. Wright will be laid to rest in Willow Lake Memorial Gardens.
