Kathryn Yvonne Leverett

Kathryn Yvonne Leverett, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 2, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Edgar and Cordia Ash Kight, on April 3, 1941, in Elberton, Georgia.

Yvonne spent her formative years in Macon, Georgia where she graduated from Miller High School and attended Mercer University. It was there that she met the love of her life, Benny Leverett, and the two were so smitten with each other that they were married three weeks later. Yvonne and Benny soon started Leverett Vinyl Siding & Construction, Inc. and blissfully enjoyed married life for about five years before they welcomed their son, Benny, Jr. As the matriarch of her family, she modeled unconditional love that was the force that kept everyone together, including extended family. She was always the first person that anyone would call when something happened, big or small. Yvonne instinctively took care of everyone and would do anything for them. She especially loved doting on her granddaughters and was their number one supporter in everything they did. They could always count on her to be cheering for them in the stands as they played sports and participated in other activities throughout the years.

On top of being the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Yvonne was devout in her Baptist faith. She was a true disciple of Christ and set a wonderful example for her family. In addition, she was an avid animal lover who enjoyed reading, decorating and taking care of the Leverett Home. Yvonne was a wonderful homemaker and was known for keeping a spotless house. She also took pride in her appearance and was always put together, whether it be at home or in public. Yvonne’s legacy of unconditional love will continue to bless generations to come.

Yvonne is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Benny Leverett, Sr.; son, Benny Leverett, Jr.; granddaughters, Autumn Taylor (Eden) and Kathryn Leverett; and great-granddaughters, Zuri, Aislin and Jinora Taylor.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Yvonne will be laid to rest in Leverett Cemetery following the service.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Yvonne Leverett to Rescue Mission of Middle GA (formerly Macon Rescue Mission), 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220.
