Katy Marlene Brothers of Byron, age 76, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021, after a brief illness.

A Middle Georgia resident all of her life, Katy was the daughter of the late Evan Word and Minty Johnson Word. She was the widow of Dennis Jay “Red” Brothers, to whom she was married for 53 years before his death in 2018. She dedicated her life to raising her three children and was a talented cook, avid reader, and a dedicated crocheter. Her three grandchildren were her world and she enjoyed spending her free time with them.

She is survived by her children, Samantha Brothers of Warner Robins, Richard Brothers (Melissa) of Bonaire, and Timothy “Timmy” Brothers of Byron; grandchildren, Zech Brothers, Ollie Brothers, and Tyler Brothers; and brother, John Word (Cathy) of Smithville, Georgia.
