Laila Nyhus-Hansen, 80, entered into rest on Monday, February 5, 2018.
Laila was born on February 10, 1937 in Oslo, Norway and was of the Catholic faith. A devoted wife, stay at home mother, and homemaker, Laila was a self-proclaimed Renaissance woman. She was extremely intellectual and taught herself everything she knew, including English and driving. Laila was also a “Jack of All Trades” and loved antiques, books, gems and minerals, good food, and traveling. Her strength, selflessness, and love for life will forever be carried in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Paul Nalesnik; her sons, Stanley and Bart Nalesnik; her parents, John Nyhus and Gerd Babru; her sister, Jorunn Aarsland; and her companion, Rocco Romeo.
Laila leaves her memory behind with her loving children, Thomas Nalesnik (Jackie) of Eldersburg, Maryland, David Nalesnik (Agnes) of New Freedom, Pennsylvania, Monica Nalesnik of Kathleen, and Kristine Perillo of Warner Robins; granddaughters, Lynn Saum (Kevin) and Nicki Nalesnik, both of Eldersburg, Maryland, Laila O’Leary (Bryan) of Kathleen, and Elizabeth Skulimoski (Keith) of Palm Bay, Florida; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Norway.
At the family’s request, all services will be private.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Hansen’s arrangements.
