Lamar Brown, 86, passed away on Saturday, October 14 2006. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2006, at Trinity United Methodist Church with entombment following in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 129 S. Houston Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Col. Brown was born on March 20, 1920 in Georgetown, Mississippi. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Asbury Sunday School Class. He was a 30 year veteran of the U. S. Air Force, and served as a Command Pilot in WWII flying the China Burma Hump in C47s, flew C54s during the Berlin Airlift, B29 Bombers in the Korean War, and B52 Bombers in Vietnam. In retirement, Mr. Brown worked as the Houston County Clerk for ten years and implemented many progressive initiatives. He was a Mason, a member of the Optimist Club, Dedallion Club, and was an avid golfer. His parents, Sam and Mary Campbell Brown preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Brown, Warner Robins; son, Lamar Brown, Jr. (Lynn), Pennsylvania; daughters, Jan Toland (Lance), Milner, GA; Jean Brown, Hampton, GA; five grandchildren, Sarah Abalis, Emily Brown, Laura Brown, Lance Toland, Jr., Ansley Toland; two sisters, Sammie Riggs (Charles), SC; Erna Edwards, Americus, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
