Lamar Keene, Jr.

Lamar Keene, Jr., 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Visitation will be Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery, Wilcox County. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Heartland Hospice 115 Arkwright Landing Macon, GA 31210.

Mr. Keene was born on September 30, 1929 in Abbeville, Georgia. Lamar was the owner of Keene’s Cleaners in Warner Robins. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Keene was involved in many civic clubs in the community including, Rotary Club of Warner Robins, Civitan Club of Warner Robins, Kiwanis Club, Warner Robins Jaycee’s, Elks Club, and a former Warner Robins City councilman. He was of the Baptist faith. His father, Joe Lamar Keene, Sr., preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Teresa Ball, Warner Robins; Wyatt Lamar Keene (Barbara), Lisa Gwendolyn Keene, Jay Campbell Keene, Lonnie Britt Keene (Shanna), all of Macon; mother, Sallie Britt Keene Vail, Warner Robins; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and companion, Benedicta “Ditas” Edge, Macon.
