LaMoye “Pat” Starnes, age 88, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, April 7, 2025. Born on January 18, 1937, in Alexander City, Alabama, LaMoye was the son of the late Kendall and Geneva Starnes. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, of 55 years, and his sister, Iris Lusk.
Pat was a graduate of Warner Robins High School, Class of 1955. He was the Quarterback for the Warner Robins Demons and lettered in both football and basketball. He married Barbara Pender of Fort Valley in 1957, and two years later, they welcomed their first-born child. To support his family, Pat worked in Civil Service in communications, traveling mostly along the east coast of the United States, installing communication towers, and settled in Satellite Beach, FL. There, both he and his wife worked at Cape Canaveral with the NASA program until 1971, when they relocated back to Warner Robins. Pat took a job as a production manager at Robins Air Force Base. After 30 years of Civil Service, he retired and started Starnes Electric Company, where he worked full-time as owner-operator, mentoring young aspiring electricians. He closed the business just after his wife died in 2012.
Active in the community, he served as an officer with the Warner Robins Little League in the early 1970s, was a Mighty-Mite football coach with the Warner Robins Recreational Department, also in the early 1970s, and was President of the Warner Robins Touch Down Club in the 1980s. For over 50 years, he was a dedicated member of the Masonic Order and served as the Master of Daylight Lodge #756 in Bonaire, GA.
He was a kind-hearted and spiritual man with a quick wit and an endless sense of humor. He loved his Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves, but the love he had for his family was without condition and endless. He was firm, but he was fair and had a gentle way about him that would soothe a troubled mind and heart.
His memory will forever be treasured by his three children: Teri Lynn (Starnes) Knight of Bonaire, Rita Starnes-Tinney of Warner Robins, and Mark A. Starnes (Michele) of Milton, GA. His grandchildren are James Patrick Tinney of Kathleen, Anna Kathryn Tinney of Warner Robins, and Ella Grayson and Avery Kendall Starnes of Milton, GA, as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 10, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Mr. Starnes will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
