Lana Pitchford Howell

Lana Pitchford Howell, 60, entered into rest on Thursday, March 12, 2009.

Mrs. Howell was born on May 27, 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from McArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas, and later earned her Teaching Degree at Southwest Texas State University. She was a devoted wife and mother who followed her husband to his military assignments for twenty-nine years. Living in middle Georgia for the past seven years, she had been employed by Houston County Board of Education and most recently taught at Centerville Elementary. She also worked as an Admission Coordinator at Elberta Health Care. Her father, Donald Pitchford, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband, Col. John Howell, USAF (Ret.); mother, Lois Butler Pitchford, Austin, Texas; son, Christopher (Fran) Howell, and grandson, Andrew Howell, all of Roswell; brother, Richard Pitchford, Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Anne Bailey, and brother-in-law, Dean Bailey, both of Roanoke, Virginia; and nephews, David (Jolie) Bailey, Sandy Springs, and Stephen Bailey, Rome. Her bright and beautiful smile will be missed by many loving and caring friends and family.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Dr. Jerry A. Roe officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Ste. A, Macon GA 31201.
