Laura Wiggins, 77, joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 16, 2023.
Laura was born on May 28, 1946, in Tifton, Georgia to the late Bob and Lois Coker. She graduated with honors from Turner High School in 1964, having chaired the yearbook staff during her time. From there, she graduated with a teaching degree from Georgia Southern University and went on to teach at Albany High School for a few years. There, she met and married her husband, Dyrall, and they began a family. She became a homemaker at that time and to help make ends meet, she began running a home daycare. She later returned to earn her master’s degree and taught at Rumble Middle School until she retired. Laura was a very strong Christian who loved the Lord and reading her bible. Over the years, she attended First Baptist Church, Shirley Hills Baptist Church, and finally, Second Baptist Church. She was the sweetest, kindest person you could meet and was loved by everyone who knew her. She always gave her best in whatever role she played in life. She loved her children and grandchildren with a fierceness; they were as important to her as she was to them. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing afghans for family and friends and going to the beach, particularly St. George Island. Her presence will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Dyrall Wiggins, and brothers, Bobby Coker, and John Coker.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Jacob Wiggins (Melissa), Katie Fowler (Brad), Andrew Wiggins (Brittni), and Sarah Guron (Caleb); and grandchildren, Iron, Legend, Arlee, Colby, Chance, Joshua, Elizabeth, and Amelia.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at McCullough Funeral Home.
