Leda Gayle Sneed

March 10, 1960 — October 10, 2021

A woman of God who was passionately devoted to her family and rescuing animals, Leda Hefner Sneed, age 61, left this life for her Heavenly home on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, Leda was a 1978 graduate of Western High School. She moved from Tampa, Florida with her mother, Sharon Perkins Thompson and her late father, Leonard Hefner, when she was young. After a blind date, she married the love of her life, Steven Sneed, on October 30, 1982, ten months after their initial meeting. Together they raised two children, Kyle and Kelli. Shortly after their marriage, Leda began her career in the banking industry, spending 25 years at Suntrust before her retirement. She started a position for the Bibb County School System in the nutrition department where she was employed for three years. She adored her work with the school system because of her love of the children she was able to be around every day.

This dedicated mother and wife, Leda loved her husband and her children more than anything in the world. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her family. She extended this giving spirit to anyone who asked. People who knew her would call her a saint for her selflessness. A member of White Oaks Freewill Baptist Church, she was the epitome of a Godly woman and servant.

Not only did she give of herself for the people in her life, Leda was a dedicated cat lady. She had a feline sanctuary in her home and was passionate about saving any critter who cried for help. Her efforts to save animals included her dedication to Noah’s Ark Sanctuary in Locust Grove, Georgia.

Despite her failing health these past six months, her valiant fight with her illness is a testimony to the strong and steadfast woman she was.

In addition to her father, Leonard Hefner, Leda was also preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Neil Hefner.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Steven Sneed of Macon; son, Kyle Sneed of Macon; daughter, Kelli Nicole Sneed of Michigan; mother, Sharon Perkins Thompson of Louisville, KY; niece, Hayley Hefner Bernard of Warner Robins; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as beloved friends and family. The rescued animals she took in will also miss her kindness and devotion.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
