Lemuel L. Campbell

The world lost one of the good ones when Lemuel L. Campbell passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 after an unexpected illness. He was 58 years old.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Lemuel the son of the late Clarence and Shirley Rowan Campbell. He was an all-around athlete who starred in both basketball and baseball, graduating from Southeast High School in Kansas City. After high school, Lemuel worked for a short time for the city of Kansas City in the Park and Recreation/Architectural department before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1982. While in the military, Lemuel traveled all over the world to places such as Japan, Egypt, Honduras, and Alaska. With his big personality, he was a natural as a DJ during his time in Honduras helping to keep his fellow airmen relaxed. During his 21 years in service to his country, he also used every opportunity he could to further his education. When he retired in 2003 from the Air Force, he had reached the rank of Tech Sergeant. Lemuel was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon during his career.

After his retirement, he worked for various contractors at Robins Air Force Base including EMR Ellis, RMT, and Dawson before starting his own company, Centerline. He drew upon the experience he received from his civil engineering background in the military to grow his business. Lemuel had the biggest heart ever and would do anything for anyone. He was forever putting others’ needs before his own. He was an avid TV watcher who followed the news from sunup to sundown. His love of sports didn’t diminish with age and he would watch football and basketball intently. He was a dedicated and passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan, thoroughly enjoying their recent success.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Moorehead.

Left to cherish the memory of Lemuel are his wife of 35 years, Rhae Lynn Campbell; daughter, Dezarae Ann Campbell of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Deontrae Polite, Jr., De’Ann Polite, and De’Nia Polite; and siblings, Caroline Rhodes, Connie O’field, Charles Moorehead, Andre Campbell, and Darryl Campbell.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. Mr. Campbell’s service will immediately follow visitation at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
