Leonard “Bill” William Ammons, Jr., 79, returned home to the Lord on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Bill was born on January 17, 1945, in Jesup, Georgia to the late Leonard William Ammons, Sr. and Annie Lou Sinclair Ammons. A plain and simple man, Bill had a host of simple pleasures. He was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene and never missed an opportunity to break bread with his Saturday morning men’s prayer group. An avid Warner Robins High School Demon’s fan, he was proud to be a season ticket holder since 1957. Bill was also a huge fan of both the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the St. Louis Cardinals. In his free time, he could be found fishing, going on cruises, and traveling whenever the opportunity arose. He will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ammons.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving companion of 18 years, Shirley Beard; children, Leonard “Trey” William Ammons, III (Lindsay) and April Green (Jim); grandchildren, Joey Green (Molly), Jillian Wimberly (Porter), Sarah Crosby (Lane), Aiden Mitchell, Jacey Gooding, Will Green, and Jackson Green; great-grandchildren, Elsie Green and Ella Crosby; bonus children, Daniel Kelley (Michele), David Kelley, and Dennis Kelley (Lexi); bonus grandchildren, Kayla Kelley, Chance Kelley, Macie Kelley, Carson Kelley, Caitlin Kelley, and Andrew Brown; bonus great-grandchildren, Ayden and Ayla Green, along with furbaby, Leo.
