Leonard Pete Johnson

Leonard “Pete” Johnson, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Mr. Johnson was born on October 9, 1918 in Wilkes County, Georgia. His wife, Azalee Bridges Johnson, parents, James Johnson and Verona Maxwell Johnson, preceded him in death.

Mr. Johnson moved to Warner Robins in 2001 after living for many years in Wilkes County where he worked for Rayle EMC for thirty-three years. He attended First Baptist Church in Washington. He was an avid candy maker, hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include daughter, Miriam McEver (Gil), Bonaire; sons, James Mike Johnson, Panama City Beach, Florida; Len Johnson (Teresa), Augusta; grandchildren Deadra Johnson (Mike), Panama City Beach, Florida; Amy Herron (Spencer), Acworth; Ashley Griffin (Meredith), Macon; Katy McEver, Atlanta and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home in Washington. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Washington, with interment following in Rest Haven Cemetery, Wilkes County. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First Baptist Church, 105 W. Robert Toombs Ave., Washington, GA 30673.
