In the early morning hours of Monday, March 6, 2017, Leonard Sapp, 89, went to be with the Lord.
Leonard was born on May 10, 1927 in Dublin, Georgia. He proudly served in the United States Navy and later in the United States Army during the Korean War. Leonard received several medals including five Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and the Good Conduct Medal. He is a member of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor. Following his military career, Leonard worked as a Loan Officer at CB&T Bank. He was a member at Bonaire Baptist Church, the adult Sunday school class, and the Joyful Hearts Senior Group. In his spare time, Leonard enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. However, his greatest joy came from his beloved family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His parents, Sylvia and Arthur Sapp, Sr., daughter, Robyn Sapp, and grandson, Matthew Sapp, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 55 years, Melba Sapp of Bonaire; children, Linda McLean (Horace) of Bladenboro, North Carolina; Tonya Wharton (Shaun) of Hawkinsville; Billy Sapp (Cindy) of Stockbridge; Terri Smith (Stan) of Perry; grandchildren, Miranda McLean; Christina Kessler (Brandon); Daniel Hudson; Brittani Wharton; Samantha Goodwin; and great-grandchildren, Bryan Hudson; Braelynn Kessler; and Easton Owens.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of McCullough. A Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Holton's Chapel Cemetery, 390 Holton Chapel Rd, Soperton, GA, where Leonard will be laid to rest.
