Leroy Mathis, 77, entered into rest on Friday, March 31, 2023.
Leroy was born on January 5, 1946, in Nashville, Georgia. He served his country for 4 years in the United States Marines as a Lance Corporal and served in Vietnam. After his military service, he worked in Civil Service and retired from Robins Air Force Base after 41 years. He was a long-time member of Second Baptist, but went on to attend Evergreen Baptist with his wife, Floreice. Leroy was a jokester, known for the Mathis humor. He was artistic and loved to draw. In his free time, he enjoyed all kinds of movies from action-adventure to comedy and horror.
His parents, Clarence and Dorothy Mathis, along with his brother, Tommie Mathis, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 55 years, Floreice Mathis of Warner Robins, GA; children, Valeria Mathis of Warner Robins, GA, Allen Mathis (Lorie) of Byron, GA, and Jennifer Tatarka (Josh) of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Mykal Kelley of Warner Robins, GA and Christina Mathis of Byron, GA; along with many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery, where Leroy will be laid to rest.
