Lettie Surratt Wise

Lettie Louise Yarbrough Surratt Wise went home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2009, in Warner Robins, where she had lived for the past 17 years. Ms. Wise was born in Yadkin, North Carolina, on December 9, 1915. Prior to her move to Georgia in 1992, she had lived in Spencer and Salisbury North Carolina her entire adult life. In her teenage years and early adulthood, she worked for North Carolina Finishing Company as a seamstress, and then moved into a sales position with Belk-Harry Department Store where she retired in 1980. She was a previous member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ellis Cross Roads, North Carolina, and later Trinity Baptist Church in Spencer, North Carolina. Following her move to Georgia, she became a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Warner Robins where she was a member of the Esther Sunday School Class and actively involved before she became home bound due to declining health.

Ms. Wise was preceded in death by her parents, Lindsey Thomas Yarbrough and Mary Ellen Simmerson Yarbrough; her first husband, J.D. Surratt and Thurman Wise, whom she married in 1972 following Mr. Surratt's death in 1970; and three brothers Paul, Pete and Sam Yarbrough and two sisters Minnie Martin and Elsie Yarbrough. She leaves behind two sons, Charlie Thomas Surratt of Kathleen, Georgia, and Steven Terry Surratt (Connie) of Warner Robins; three granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be September 29, 2009 at Friendship Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m. In, lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund: 1322 Feagin Mill Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
