Lewis A. Strandburg, 94, entered into rest on Thursday, February 13, 2014.
Lewis was born on September 1, 1919 in Guantanamo, Cuba and spent most of his formative years in Jamestown, New York. He was of the Catholic faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the 82nd Airborne Division, 325th Glider Infantry. Lewis was part of the invasion of France, was captured in Holland, and spent seven months as a German P.O.W.
He retired from Charter Oil Company as a Marketing Manager in Jacksonville, Florida. Lewis loved tennis and was a past president at Pound Ridge Tennis Club. He was also an Honorable Kentucky Colonel.
His parents, Charles J. and Magdalena Perez-Pons Strandburg, and brothers, Arthur Strandburg and Robert Strandburg, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Barbara Conroy Strandburg of Macon, Georgia; children, Roger W. Strandburg (Sara) of Peachtree City, Georgia, Gary L. Strandburg (Carol) of Perry, Georgia, Cynthia S. Harkness (Dave) of Wilton, Connecticut, Barbara Dolson (Tim) of Palm Harbor, Florida and Virginia Goodrich (Jim) of Jacksonville, Florida; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be private and held at a later date.
