Warner Robins - Lillie Mae Sartain Abston Ricketson, 100, entered into rest on Saturday, November 28, 2009.
Mrs. Ricketson was born on May 30, 1909, in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama; she was such a long time resident of Warner Robins that she had P. O. Box #1. A devoted homemaker, well-known for her buttermilk biscuits; she always cared and gave to others. She was one of the original Rosie the Riverters, and worked at Robins Air Force Base as an Aircraft Mechanic. Central Baptist Church was her church home. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Abston and Elbert Hollis Ricketson; sons, Alvie Lee Abston and James Dale Abston; Sherry Rape, granddaughter and parents, Daniel Young Sartain and Mary Bessie Clark Sartain.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her sons, Ovid (Carolyn) Ricketson, and David (Deneise) Ricketson; daughter-in-law's, Betty Jean Abston, Eatonton; Barbara Ann Abston Hudson, Gray; sister, Bessie Hamner, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; brother's Frank Sartain, Washington state, Billy Sartain, Oniest Sartain, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Central Baptist Church, with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
