Lillie Ruth Huffman, age 78, passed away peacefully December 26, 2021, at her home due to a short battle with a staph infection. She was born August 11, 1943, in Willow Spring, NC to Moses and Henrietta Dupree.
Ruth was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a loving wife to her beloved husband, Greg Huffman, who she was married to for 641 months and 23 days (and yes, they celebrated monthly), a wonderful mom to 4 children, grand mommy to 11 grandchildren; caring daughter, thoughtful sister, compassionate aunt, and caring friend. Ruth was known for her sweet spirit and desire to serve others. She will be greatly missed.
Ruth graduated from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She enjoyed influencing lives as a teacher.
For over 50 years Ruth served as a pastor’s wife and impacted the lives of so many people as she and her husband Greg lived out their verse: Psalm 34:3 – O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt his name together.
Ruth was loved dearly and exemplified a Proverbs 31 woman. As a family, we echo Proverbs 31:28 – Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Ruth is survived by her beloved husband Greg Huffman and their 3 sons and their families Steven (Ranya) Huffman, Ashlyn (Stuart) Michaud, Austin, and Autumn of Greer SC; Jonathan (Rebecca) Huffman, Bailey and Ansley of Spicewood, TX; and David (Kim) Huffman, Jessica, Christina, Audrey, Mary Kate, and Michael of Acworth, GA. She is also survived by her brother Ben (Polly) Dupree, sister Nola (Randy) Meyer, and brother Danny Dupree as well as 1 niece and 4 nephews who she loved. Ruth was predeceased by her first husband, Donald Beasley, who was killed in a tragic accident and left Ruth as a widow at age 20. She was also predeceased by her first-born daughter Kimberly Huffman who died suddenly at 2.5 days old, her parents Moses and Henrietta Dupree, her sister Patsy Dupree and one granddaughter Aubrey Huffman.
Please join us in celebrating Ruth’s life on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
