On the morning of Friday, October 6, 2017, Mrs. Lois H. Smith passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior. She was 100 years old.
Mrs. Smith was born on December 15, 1916 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Marshall L. and Gertrude Ward Weaver. She retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as a procurement clerk. Mrs. Smith was a longtime faithful member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and a member of the Newcomers Club of Warner Robins and the Ted Wright Senior Citizen’s Club. In her free time, she was an avid traveler having been all over the world, and went on many cruises. Mrs. Smith also loved playing cards, gardening, and working in the yard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, T.J. “Shorty” Hollis; her second husband, Lynward L. Smith; and her sisters, Inez Sullivan and Mildred Farrell.
Mrs. Smith leaves her memory behind with her loving daughter, Sylvia H. Joyner (Ted) of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Charlie Barker, Carol Murphy and Pat Joyner (Bernie); great-grandchildren, Ginger Williams, Eric Young, Shannon Thames, and Matthew Joyner; and great-great-grandchildren, Cadyn Anthony Williams, Aubrie Grace Williams, Rhett Levi Williams, Bentley Tyler Young, and McCoy Patterson Thames.
Visitation will be Monday, October 9, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside services will be for the family only.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Lois Hollis Smith to The Shriners Children’s Hospital, www.shrinerschildrenshospitals.org.
