Lois Colleen Tucker passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 5th, 2024. Lois, also known as Bug or Grandma, was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina on July 21,1941.
Lois was an educator her entire adult life and was an avid history fan. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, making jelly and apple butter, and spending time with family. She graduated from Berry College with a B.A. in education. She obtained a master’s degree in education from Mercer University. She later obtained a 6-year Specialist degree from the University of Georgia. She retired from the Houston County School System as an Assistant Principal. Lois was a proud and active member of the DAR - Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Polly McMinn, first husband, John Meadows, and second husband, Tom Tucker. Lois was one of eleven children born in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. She is survived by two brothers, Rick and Jerry McMinn.
Her memory will be cherished by her two sons, Wesley Meadows and Darin (Shari) Meadows, and a stepdaughter Tammy (Hugh) Cross; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Kristin, Clay, Kathryn, Rebekah, Danny, Anna, Tyler, and Jessie along with seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church in Warner Robins on Saturday June 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Refuge Baptist Church in Hendersonville with a funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services to follow at Locust Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
