Loretta Sue Burns Chaney, age 80, passed away at Houston Medical Center on the morning of Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Born on July 11, 1944, in Gallipolis, Ohio, Loretta was raised with her eleven siblings. After high school, she pursued higher education, where she met Jerry E. Chaney, the love of her life.

As a devoted pastor’s wife, Loretta embraced a life of service. Together with Jerry, she spent nearly every day of the year traveling across the southeastern United States, including Texas, spreading the gospel and offering support to countless communities. Her travels, often involving nights spent on a bus, were a testament to her steadfast dedication.

Loretta’s faith was her cornerstone. She was known for her deep love of reading the Bible, a practice that sustained her throughout her life.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry E. Chaney, and parents, Clarence and Gladys Burns.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, James and Christopher Todd Chaney, both of Montezuma; as well as five beloved grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, in Twin Township Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ohio, 45601, where Loretta will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jerry.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Loretta Sue Chaney to Jay’s HOPE Foundation, 1157 Forsyth St., Macon, GA 31201.
