LT. Col David "Dave" Hodge USAR (Ret.), 73, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.
David was born on June 2, 1942, in Flint, Michigan. He grew up in Davison, Michigan where he graduated high school. In 1966 he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served 8 years active duty and 22 years Army Reserve. During his 8 years active duty, Dave served in the Vietnam War where he received several medals including; the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), 2 Oversea Bars. In 1968 he married the love of his life Frances "Franki" Calloway, they began their life together, stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia; Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; before retiring in Warner Robins in 1975.
He then began his Civil Service career at Robins Air Force Base. Dave also continued his education earning his Bachelor's degree from Columbus College and Master's degree from Georgia College and State University. In the past 10 years, he and his wife lead the Middle Georgia Memory Makers on numerous trips with thousands of Senior Citizens in the Middle Georgia area. Dave was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and in his spare time was an avid golfer.
His father, Earl Hodge, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 47 years, Frances "Franki" Hodge of Warner Robins; children, David Anthony LaBean of Flint, Michigan, Danial Scott LaBean of Grand Blanc, Michigan, and Andrea Leigh Hodge of Warner Robins; 6 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; mother, Aquila Hodge of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, James Hodge of Anthem, Arizona; mother-in-law, Mae Callaway-Hill of Warner Robins; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering with family and friends will be Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015, at Christ United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of LTC David Hodge USAR (Ret.) to Christ United Methodist Church, 511 Russell Parkway, Warner Robins, Ga 31088.
