Bonaire – Drew P. Hale, 93, entered into rest on Sunday, September 26, 2010.
Colonel Hale was born on August 24, 1917 in Selma, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University in 1941 with an Engineering degree. A veteran of the U.S. Army and U. S. Air Force, he served his country with honor and pride through World War II, the Korean and the Vietnam conflicts. From 1954 through 1958, he was attached to NATO with the Allied Air Forces Central Europe. He retired from active duty after twenty-five five years of service though he continued to serve as a Civil Servant employed at Robins Air Force Base until his full retirement with forty-two years of combined service. He was a Master of the Royal Secret of the 32nd Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. He was also a past Lieutenant Governor of the Kiwanis Georgia District and was a member of the National Sojourners, Warner Robins Chapter. He was a member of Warner Robins First United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Stokes Hale, son, Allie Dave Hale, parents Walter Stanton Hale and Roberta Grizzard Hale, brother, Walter Hale, and sisters, Roberta Ellenburg and Ruth Vance.
He will live in the hearts of his sons, Drew Hale, Doug Hale, and Pratt Hale (Jeannie); daughter, Cappy Moor (Gary); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Ann Dupree.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 29, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Marietta National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
