Si Avery, 98, entered into rest on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Si was born on June 28, 1918 in Denver, Arkansas to the late John "J.H." and Elsie Mattox Avery. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Air Force. During his distinguished military career, he was awarded the Air Medal with 5 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, the distinguished Flying Cross with 1 Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster and various other service awards. He flew twenty-five combat missions in Europe during World War II.
His beloved wife, Loys N. Avery and son, Lyndall J. Avery, Jr. preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children; James Garnett, Jennifer Jackson; both of Warner Robins and Barbara Bryant of Lizella; sister, Betsy Driscoll of Mounds, Oklahoma; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. At the family's request, the burial will be private.
