Lt. Col. Roger W. East, Usaf (Ret.)

Roger W. East passed away at home on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the age of 88. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 12, 1933, he was the son of the late William David and Annie Mae East and was of the Protestant faith.

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from which he retired having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Following his military career, he worked for the Monroe County Commissioners Office as a zoning officer before retiring from there, as well. Roger was a kind, gentle and loving soul with an easygoing disposition. He dearly loved his family and friends and greatly enjoyed entertaining, cooking (he made the best collards in town), and being outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles East, Margaret East, Wilma Verhuel, George East and Anne Claire Hurley.

Roger is survived by his loving daughter, Morgen East Green (Ronnie); granddaughter, Leigen East Coulon (Frank); four great-grandchildren; sister, Isabelle Martin; and sister-in-law, Mary East.
