Lt. Col. William L. ''Bill'' Smith, 78, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Visitation will be Saturday, November 15 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Saturday evening, November 15 at Central Baptist Church. Burial will be on Monday, November 17 at 11:00 am in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Kimball, TN. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Joy In The Journey, Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 1647 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins, GA, 31088.
Lt. Col. Smith was born in Dade City, Florida. He was retired from the United States Air Force, having served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. A member of Central Baptist Church, he was actively involved in all of Central's ministries including being an ordained Minister, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and served on the Joy In The Journey Steering Committee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joshua Ernest Smith and Anna Leigh Smith, a daughter, Julie S. Goethe, and siblings, Alise (Smith) Brown, Thomas C. Smith, Ernestine (Smith) Blackmore, Mildred (Smith) Jones, and Ann (Smith) Anderson.
Survivors include his wife Anna W. Smith, Warner Robins; children, William L., Jr. and Jane Smith, Yorktown, VA; Ted W. and Juanita Smith, Warner Robins; Harold M., Jr. (Bubba) and Sue (Smith) Edwards, Centerville; Christopher Goethe, Spartanburg, SC; brother, Robert F. Smith, Sr., Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Scott and Stephanie (Smith) Piepho, Houston, TX; Dale and Hillary (Smith) Mitchell, Warner Robins; Paul and Kelli (Smith) Biles, St. Louis, MO; Christianna Edwards, Atlanta; Daria Smith, Orlando, FL; Amelia Edwards, Athens, GA; Rachel Smith, Blacksburg, VA; R.
