Ltc Walter Brown Mcdonald, Usaf (Ret.)

December 10, 1921 — March 11, 2011

Walter Brown McDonald, 89, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 11, 2011.
Visitation will be Monday, March 14, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15,, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, the Reverend Buddy Cooper officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

Born on December 10, 1921, in Macon, Brown entered the Air Force Aviation Cadet Program in October of 1942. A true military hero, he proudly and honorably served for thirty years as a pilot, participating in three conflicts: World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He earned many awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Force Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. Besides his military service and his family, his other passion in life was golf. He became an avid golfer as a young man, winning many tournaments through the years and becoming quite well known throughout the golfing community. He was ranked the #3 Senior Amateur Golfer in the United States for three years. For many years, he attended Christ United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Jane Bearden McDonald, father, J.E. McDonald, Jr. and mother, Martha Ruth Brown McDonald, and siblings, J.E. McDonald, III, and Martha Ruth McDonald Shinholser.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Arlene Ellen Whitenack McDonald, Alpharetta; son, Walter Brown McDonald, Jr. (Sherryl), Winston-Salem, North Carolina; daughter, Cynthia Blair McDonald Belin (Greg), Houston, Texas; step-children, Janet Ellen Whitenack McClendon (Jerry), Panama City Beach, Florida, Linda Ann Whitenack Courtney (Ray), Warner Robins, Joan Marie Whitenack Davis (Steve), Metairie, Louisiana, Nancy Arlene Whitenack Wetrich (Jim), South Lake, Texas, Richard Michael Whitenack (Sharlyn), Canton, and Daniel Patrick Whitenack (Kerri), Duluth; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
