Maj. Amos H. Shoup, USAF (Ret.), 85, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, April 16 in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Father Paul O’Connell will officiate. A Rosary will be said on Thursday evening, April 15 at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation following immediately thereafter until 9:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Hospice of Houston County, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088 or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 250 S. Davis Dr, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Maj. Shoup was born in Hagerstown, MD on July 13, 1918 and later served during World War II and the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Major before retirement. After his military retirement he worked with the Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins. His parents, Amos and Rose Shoup; and his brother, Clarence Shoup, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Vera Shoup of Warner Robins; daughter, Diane Shoup of Charleston, South Carolina; sister, Mary Sodergren of Hagerstown, Maryland; and grandson, Chris Marcoccio, of Macon.
