Maj. Donald Bill, USAF (Ret.) passed away at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. He was 86 years old.
A highly decorated veteran of the Air Force, Don retired as the Wing Aircraft Performance Officer with the 19th Bombardment Heavy Wing at Robins Air Force Base. He logged 600 combat mission hours during his tour in the Vietnam War. After his distinguished military career, Don worked briefly for Anchor Glass before working as the accountant for Clean Control. Don was a former commodore of the Oconee Sailing and Yacht Club at Lake Sinclair for several years. Aside from sailing, he enjoyed playing golf. Don was an author who wrote and published five books.
Don was born on August 10, 1934 in Pittsburg, Kansas to the late H.K. Bill and Mary Alice Marsh Bill. He joined the Air Force in 1955, just before his 21st birthday.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ethel Bill; sons, Donald Bill (Angie) of Miamisburg, Ohio, and David Bill (Lynn) of Milledgeville; and grandchildren, Michael Bill (Laura) of Macon and Bill Lang (Naomi), of Warner Robins.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Parkway Memorial Gardens. A graveside service will immediately follow visitation on Friday, May 28, 2021 with full military honors. Reverend Kenny Rogers will officiate. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
