Major Kevin Bess, 39, died suddenly on Sunday, November 18, 2012 of cardiac arrest.
Kevin was a civilian air technician with the United States Air Force Reserve and retired from active duty in 2005. Since that time, he worked at Robins Air Force Base in various roles, including an Air Battle Manager, a valued instructor and the Mission Crew Commander of the JSTARS.
Kevin was a lifelong jokester, a never-ending patriot, a devoted husband and the proudest father. Since buying their home in Warner Robins, Kevin and Katy brought their daughter Harper into the world, and Kevin realized his previously unrecognized amazing talents as a landscaper. He was always the best fantasy league footballer that most people had ever seen, even though he never saw a vegetable that would pass his lips.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Katy Bess, Warner Robins; daughters, Harper Bess, Warner Robins and Emma Bess, 14, Roanoke, Virginia; father, Steven Bess, Gastonia, North Carolina; sister, MacKenzie, Gastonia, North Carolina; and a brother, North Carolina.
Kevin's family, friends and all who knew him are devastated from his loss. While he passed far too quickly, we were all blessed by his presence.
The family will receive friends at 102 Bridgeway Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088 on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Gardner-Webb University Scholarship Fund, Attn: Advancement Office, P.O. Box 997, Boiling Springs, NC 28017 or online at www.gardner-webb.edu/support-gwu/donate-now/index.html.
