Majie Beard

Majie J. Beard, 91, passed away on March 15, 2011.

She is predeceased by her husband, Henry Beard; son, Calvin Beard; parents, Thomas and Sarah Jones; son-in-law, Dale Leck; brother, Albert (Rosebud); daughter, Judy Morris; sons, Gary Jones, Henry (Evelyn) Jones, Leroy (Mary) Jones, and J.T. Jones; sister, Grace (Doyle) Blalock, and their son, Buddy Blalock; nephew, Donald Dowdy; and niece, Joyce Beard.

She leaves behind her daughter, Elizabeth Leck; nephews, Daniel (Sandra) Beard, David (Estelle) Beard, Samuel Beard, and Ned (Pat) Beard: nieces, Sara Elaine (Allen) Taylor, Janice (Lowell) Register and Joyce (James) Morgan; Extended family, John (Maggie) Judah, Gerald (Kelly) Judah and Jane Judah: and many friends, neighbors and church family.

Majie's work career was from 1941-1979 as a civilian with the Air Force. She worked as an Inspector for the most of her career. Her appointment was a "rare" for life appointment.
Majie was a musician playing the mandolin, guitar, banjo, piano and organ. She wrote poetry and put to music some of the poems. She had published songs, poems and also played in Blue Grass Bands. In addition she taught guitar and mandolin. She was creative with crafts, painted oils, made ceramics, flower arrangements and also was an "outstanding" cook. Her husband was a minister and she served along side as a minister's wife bookkeeper for the church, Sunday school teacher, and alter worker. She was considered a great prayer warrior and counselor.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
