Major Thomas Coy Hipps, (Usaf, Ret)

January 18, 1931 — February 25, 2011

Centerville – Major Thomas Coy Hipps, (USAF, Ret), 80, entered into rest on Friday, February 25, 2011.

Mr. Hipps was born on January 18, 1931, in Tifton. With pride and honor, Major Hipps served his country in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot and participated in the Vietnam Era as a volunteer with the 602nd Squadron, where he flew Search and Rescue Missions as a Sandy Pilot on the A-1 aircraft. His parents, Joe and Lois Rooks Hipps; and granddaughter, Stacy Starkweather, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Patricia O. Hider Hipps; daughters, Shirley Eldridge (Carol), Centerville, and Linda Songer, League City, Texas; grandchildren, Bryan Davis, Lindsey Davis, Kelly Davis, Lauren Starkweather, Sarah and Sophia Songer; great-grandchildren, Malia Davis and Brodie Davis; and sister, Carole Malone, Flower Mound, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Nancylee Cater officiating. Inurnment will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088.
