Margaret Stubbs Barney, a beloved niece, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024. Born on October 5, 1959, in Warner Robins, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Christine Mason. Raised in Warner Robins, Margaret was a proud graduate of Northside High School, where she began to cultivate her lifelong passion for helping others.

Margaret dedicated much of her career to serving her community. She worked at the Middle Georgia Community Action Agency and as a teacher in the Head Start Program, where her nurturing spirit shone brightly. Though she never had children of her own, she took immense pride in helping raise her nieces and nephews. Margaret was their biggest cheerleader, attending ball practices and supporting them at various events, always fostering a sense of family and love.

A member of the "Heavenly Stars" Gospel Group, Margaret's love for music and her faith were central to her life. She was an active member of Smithville Baptist Church, where she not only worshipped but also served as the church secretary, contributing her time and talents to her church family.

Margaret was a free spirit, known for her warmth, empathy, and nurturing nature. She had a unique ability to offer guidance and wisdom with grace, making her a trusted confidant to many. In her leisure time, she found joy in bowling, winning numerous trophies that showcased her competitive spirit.

Margaret loved God and lived her life with an open heart, touching the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering support. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to experience her light.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Barney; and siblings, Ava Ruth Tharpe and Leroy Mason, Jr..

Her memory will forever be treasured by her siblings, Quinton Mason (Nancy), Carter Mason (Ester), Ricky Mason, and Shirley Ann Mason; companion, Tony Felder; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
