Margaret Geraldine Barnes King

On Monday, January 10, 2022, Margaret Geraldine Barnes King, 83, passed away at her residence in Lizella, Georgia. She was 83 years old.

The daughter of the late Mildred Manor and Mary Irene Reece Barnes, Margaret was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on February 5, 1938. She was raised in Carrollton as well as Macon, Georgia, where she graduated from Dudley High School. Shortly after high school, Margaret became a Waitress at various locations across the Middle Georgia area, In 1979, she accepted a position as a Welder for American Standard and went on to transfer with the company to Seymour, Indiana. She retired in 1995, from Figgie International Inc. formerly known as American Standard. Margaret then moved to Panama City, Florida, where she owned and operated an apartment complex. After selling her business, she went on to work at Wal-Mart before moving in 2009 to Lizella, to be closer to her family. Margaret spent her golden years growing, harvesting, and canning all of her vegetables.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her siblings, Sammy and Marraine.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Debra Bates, Robert Hollar (Anica), Wanda Taylor, Susan Winters, Lonnie Hollar (Earlene), and Kirby King; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Mildred, Mary, Martha Ann, Walter, and Wayne.

A memorial visitation with Margaret’s family will be Friday, January 14, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
