Longtime Bonaire resident Margarete Renate “Greta” Kunz Causey passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at her home.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Greta was the daughter of the late Ernst Edward Kunz, Sr. and Franziska Seipel Kunz. The family immigrated to New York in the 1950s. Greta was active with the Bonaire First Baptist Church Senior Sunday School class. She enjoyed outdoor activities like cycling and long walks. Gardening was therapeutic to her and she could often be found in the yard. Greta was known for organizing and preparing family dinner gatherings. A constant companion to her husband, she was his caregiver, especially in his later years. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert Allen Causey, Sr.; and siblings, Hans Jurgen Kunz, Ursula Ignacio, and Klaus D. Kunz.
Left to treasure Greta’s memory are her children, Robert Allen “Bobby” Causey, Jr., James Edward “Eddie” Causey (Ingrid), and Mona Causey Whitaker; brother, Ernst Edward Kunz, Jr. of West Leyden, New York; and many loving family members.
